Adinkra Symbols

The Adinkra symbols are of African origin. They have decorative functions but also represent objects that convey traditional wisdom, aspects of life or the environment. There are many different symbols with distinct meanings, often linked with proverbs, record historical events, express particular attitudes or behavior related to depicted figures, or concepts uniquely related to abstract shapes.
